What makes bare Vitaderm different from other clean skincare brands?
bare Vitaderm is small-batch, intentionally formulated, and uncompromising about what goes into our products. We don't use unnecessary fillers or ingredients simply for the sake of formulation. Every ingredient in every formula has a purpose. Our formulas are designed with carefully selected oils, butters, botanicals, extracts, and other purposeful ingredients — and when preservation is necessary for product safety and stability, we use it thoughtfully. What will I never find in a bare Vitaderm product?
You'll never find ingredients added simply to make a formula look or feel more conventional. Our products are formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and synthetic fragrance. We don't use unnecessary fillers, and we don't rely on vague "natural" language to tell you what's inside. Wherever possible, we choose plant-based and certified organic botanical ingredients and keep our formulations purposeful and thoughtfully considered. All bare Vitaderm products are cruelty-free.
What does anhydrous mean and why does it matter?
Anhydrous means water-free. Water-free formulas allow us to create highly concentrated formulations built around oils, butters, waxes, and other skin-conditioning ingredients. Because anhydrous products don't contain water, they generally require a different approach to product stability than water-based formulas. Less water means more room for the ingredients we intentionally selected to nourish and condition your skin.
Do bare Vitaderm products contain preservatives?
Where a formula needs it for safety and stability — particularly water-based products — we use a carefully selected preservative at the minimal level necessary, never more. Anhydrous (water-free) products like our facial and body oils typically require little to no preservation because they don't provide the environment bacteria and mold need to grow. We choose our preservation approach formula by formula, not as a blanket claim.
Can water-based products be free of preservatives?
Not safely, in most cases — water creates an environment where bacteria and mold can grow, so water-based formulas need some form of preservation to stay safe over time. That's why we choose our preservative approach thoughtfully for each formula, using only what's necessary for the specific product.
Is natural skincare better than synthetic skincare?
Not inherently — "natural" and "synthetic" both include ingredients that range from highly effective to irritating. What matters more is formulation quality, ingredient sourcing, and whether a product is suited to your skin type. We choose natural, plant-derived ingredients for bare Vitaderm because of the sensory experience, ingredient transparency, and traditional use we value — not because natural automatically means better.
What is the difference between natural and clean skincare?
"Natural" typically refers to ingredients derived from plants or minerals rather than synthesized. "Clean" is a broader term usually referring to formulas free of ingredients considered harmful or unnecessary. A product can be clean without being 100% natural, and vice versa — we aim for both.
Is bare Vitaderm a small-batch skincare brand?
Yes. Every bare Vitaderm product is formulated and produced in small batches, which allows for closer quality control and fresher inventory compared to mass-manufactured skincare.
What does "small-batch" mean in skincare?
Small-batch means products are made in limited quantities at a time, rather than mass-produced. This typically allows for more careful formulation, ingredient freshness, and quality control, though it also means limited stock at any given time.
Are your products vegan?
Most of our products are vegan. Products containing beeswax or honey are not vegan. Please refer to the ingredient list on each product page for the most current formula and ingredients. All bare Vitaderm products are cruelty-free.
Are your products safe for sensitive skin, allergies, or children?
Our formulas are thoughtfully made with carefully selected botanical oils, plant-based extracts, and naturally derived ingredients. Some products contain tree nut oils, honey, beeswax, or naturally occurring components of essential oils, such as bergamot. Individual sensitivities vary, so always review the complete ingredient list on each product page.
We recommend a patch test before use, particularly for anyone with sensitive or reactive skin, known allergies, or when using a product on children. Apply a small amount to the inside of the wrist or elbow and monitor the area for 24 hours before broader use. Do your products expire?
Yes. The expiration date and batch code on your product reflect the shelf life when unopened and stored properly. Once opened, we recommend following the "use by" timeframe printed on that product's label — many products can perform well beyond it, but this is the window we've set to keep every use as safe and effective as possible. Store products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat, and follow any additional storage instructions provided for the individual product.
Why are my bars heat sensitive and how should I store them?
Our bars are made with natural butters and waxes that can soften in higher temperatures. Store below 75°F and keep them away from direct sunlight and heat. During warmer months, we recommend expedited shipping when appropriate to help protect your order during transit.
What is your return policy?
All sales are final. If you receive a damaged, defective, or incorrect item, contact us within 3 days of delivery with your order number and a photo. We review every inquiry individually and will do our best to make it right.
How long will shipping take?
Orders are processed within 2–5 business days. Shipping times vary by method selected at checkout. You will receive tracking information once your order ships.
Does bare Vitaderm ship internationally?
