Batana Oil
Elaeis Oleifera (Batana) Oil
For hair: Warm a small amount in your palms and apply directly to scalp. Massage using circular motions to stimulate circulation and promote healthy hair growth. Work the oil through hair for extra conditioning. Cover with a cap and allow to penetrate for at least 30 minutes or leave overnight for deep nourishment. Wash out thoroughly with warm water. Shampoo well and condition as normal. Use 1–3 times weekly for best results.
For skin: Warm a small amount between palms and apply to face or body as a nourishing treatment. A little goes a long way.
For external use only. Discontinue if irritation occurs. Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. Refrigeration extends shelf life.
Rooted in the rainforests of Honduras, batana oil has been extracted and used by Indigenous Miskito communities for centuries — long before the rest of the world caught on. Cold-pressed from the nuts of the American palm using traditional roasting and hand-pressing methods passed down through generations, this is one of nature's most nutrient-dense oils — rich in antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and Vitamin E that deeply nourish, restore, and protect both skin and hair.

bare Vitaderm sources batana oil directly from Honduras in small batches, unrefined and undeodorized. Nothing is added. Nothing is removed. What you receive is the oil exactly as it has been made for generations.
What it does:
Deeply moisturizes skin and hair without clogging pores. Strengthens and revitalizes hair — reducing breakage and adding shine. Reduces the appearance of fine lines and promotes a youthful glow. Soothes dry, irritated skin with natural anti-inflammatory properties. Protects against environmental damage with Vitamin E and antioxidants.

What to expect:
Batana oil ranges from a deep reddish-brown to a warm amber. In cooler temperatures it sets into a thick, buttery paste. Warmed between the palms it melts into a luxurious golden oil that absorbs deeply into skin and hair. You may occasionally notice a mild greenish tint — this is completely normal, a sign of natural unrefined oil from the chlorophyll and plant pigments in the palm nut. It is not a defect.

The scent is beautifully bold, smoky, and roasted — often compared to dark coffee or toasted nuts. It comes directly from the traditional extraction process and is one of the clearest signs you are holding the real thing. It softens significantly once applied and fades within 15–30 minutes. If your batana oil has no scent it has been refined or diluted — that is not what we sell.

Subtle variations in color, scent, and texture between batches are natural and expected. Each batch reflects the harvest season and roasting process. No two are exactly alike. That is part of what makes it authentic.

Free of synthetic additives, preservatives, and fillers. Small batch. Unrefined.
